Why do people pay so much for freight shipping quotes?
Aussie freight finance company, Harbour freight tools has launched an online tool to help buyers compare shipping quotes from multiple carriers.
Originally designed for buyers in Australia, the new tool has been rolled out in a handful of countries across the world including the US, UK and China.
“The real benefit is when it comes to buying goods and shipping them to your home,” Harbour founder and CEO, Mark Wilson, told Business Insider Australia.
“You can get the best price for the shipping, the lowest price, but you can also get the cheapest freight rates available.”
For example, if a buyer is looking to get a parcel to a US-based company, they might be looking at paying $749.99 for a two-hour layover in the US and $1,999 for a one-hour delivery.
The website will show shipping prices in US dollars and ship times in Australia dollars, but it will also include freight rates for other countries.
“We are making it as easy as possible for buyers to compare shipping rates across multiple carriers and also international destinations, so it is a good place to start,” Wilson said.
The tool will also allow customers to track the shipping times of each carrier, so they can see if they are getting a lower or higher freight rate.
“Once the price is listed on the website, we are able to show you the best freight rates to choose from, so you can easily compare and make an informed decision,” Wilson added.
